Charleston, S. Carolina Friday Nov. 5th

Today we took a tour of Charleston and the Middleton Plantation.  This was a rice plantation.  They also tanned and made leather products that they sold to Europe but that only lasted two years.  why because they shot everything and had no more animals to shoot!  Real smart these Southerners no wonder they lost the war.  Learned so much about the Civil War or as they called in Charleston the War of Northern Agression. Ha Anyway I knew cotton was big down here did not realize how much Rice was king.  We had a great lunch at the plantation.  The best southern fried chicken, rice with black eye peas, string beans, gumbo, chicken salad regular salad, corn bread and biscuits.  for dessert we had pecan pie now I don’t like pecan pie but this was fabulous..... Didn’t take the scooter today it would be too hard to use at the plantation they gave me a wheelchair and Bill bless his heart pushed away.  It was 61 out today so a lot warmer than NY and Philly and getting warmer as we go.  We then walked around the historic part of Charleston and saw all the beautiful mansions.  Now when I booked this it was over 6 months ago.  Figuring new knee no stopping me.  wrong but I did okay and when I couldn’t walk anymore I headed back to the bus.  back to the ship now where I just took 4 advil and will rest till dinner.  We don’t set sail till 11pm if I can I might just scoot up to the markets I love the baskets!!!!!!!!! But when I say no to shopping you know I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!
We would have eaten in town but tonight they are making a veal dish for me special so I must be here.
That’s it for now folks.  Well for some reason it will not let me post my pictures today.  oh well.  I might just have to add them somewhere else.  will keep you posted
