At sea en route to Grand Caymon

Mon. Nov. 8

Today we are spending another wonderful sea day.  This morning we went to a lecture by Corey Sandler a newspaper man, journalist and writer. He has been on The Today Show, CNN, NPR and the Travel Channel.  He spoke about Panama and the canal the beginnings.  He will give two more lectures.  This was followed by lunch and the an afternoon lecture and songs byRoger (Jim) McGuinn the co-founder and lead singer and guitarist of the BYRDS.  He had a 12 String Rickenbacker guitar.  He played backup for many many famous people, Ertha Kitt, Bobby Darien etc.  Till he founded the Byrds  He wrote a few songs before this also one that the Bee Gees did in Australia.  When he founded  the Byrds they needed a song right away so they performed Bob Tylan's  Mr. Tambourine man what everyone didn't know is that he took that song and changed the music to his own.  Afterwhich he played for us.  It was a delightful lecture and now time to hit the casino.  I have been getting killed everytime in Bill on the other hand his covering my losses.  Today was the Chocolate Tea.  mmmmm is all I could say, chocolate everything to ice cream and a chocolate fountain.   I was in heaven. below is part of the menu and my plate.  Thank God we have an earlier dinner tonight I couldn't go crazy.

When we were having lunch the maitre d came up to me and said Mrs. Gilbert you have a birthday coming up and we are having a special breakfast but since you will be in Columbia and have a 7:30am tour do you want it on another day.  So I must think about this.  I will publish that menu later.  It comes with a bottle of champagne.  there goes the scooter.

Tonight we are having dinner in the Italian restaurant Prego.  There is no charge for either of the two speciality restaurant Prego which is by Valentine and or Silk Road which is an Asian restauant and shushi bar by Nobu.  They do ask that you tip these waiters as they are not included in the dining room tips
